Abstrak: Dewasa ini terdapat kebimbangan mengenai penggunaan gajet secara berlebihan dalam kalangan murid-murid yang mengalami autisme. Kajian kualitatif ini dijalankan untuk meninjau persepsi guru Pendidikan Khas terhadap penggunaan gajet dalam kalangan murid-murid yang mengalami autisme dan hubungannya dengan perkembangan fizikal dan kognitif mereka. Temubual berstruktur secara bersemuka dijalankan bagi mengumpul data daripada 3 orang guru Pendidikan Khas di sebuah sekolah dalam Daerah Gombak, Selangor. Kajian rintis dijalankan terhadap 2 orang Guru Pendidikan Khas yang mempunyai ciri-ciri yang sama dengan responden sebenar bagi menilai tahap kesesuaian reka bentuk kajian dan juga menilai kebolehgunaan atau keberkesanan setiap soalan. Temu bual dirakamkan dan ditranskripsikan lalu seterusnya perisian Nvivo 7 digunakan untuk menganalisis data tersebut. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa tahap penggunaan gajet dalam kalangan murid-murid autisme yang berumur 7 hingga 9 tahun adalah sangat tinggi. Responden juga berpendapat bahawa terdapat hubungan di antara penggunaan gajet dengan perkembangan fizikal dan kognitif murid-murid yang mengalami autisme. Kajian ini diharap dapat menyumbang maklumat awal mengenai fenomena yang kurang sihat dalam kalangan murid-murid ini. Kajian lanjut perlu dijalankan menggunakan lebih ramai responden atau ibu bapa terutamanya untuk mencari penyelesaian bagi mengatasi isu ini.
Abstract: The excessive use of gadgets among students with autism is worrying. This study was conducted to identify the perceptions of Special Education teachers on the use of gadgets by students with autism and the relationship with their physical and cognitive development. A qualitative method in the form of Structured face-to-face interviews was implemented to gauge the perceptions of Special Education Teachers on the use of gadgets among their students with autism. The respondents were three Special Education Teachers in a school in the Gombak District, Selangor. A pilot study was conducted on two other Special Education teachers who had the same characteristics as the actual respondents to assess the level of suitability of the study design and evaluate the applicability and the effectiveness of each interview question. Interviews were recorded and later analyzed using the Nvivo7 software. The results showed that the level of gadget use among students with autism aged 7 to 9 years was very high. The respondents reported a relationship between the use of gadgets among their students with autism with their physical and cognitive development. It is hoped that this research has contributed early information on this unhealthy phenomena among students with autism. Further research is needed using more respondents or parents especially in order to find the solution to overcome this issue.
