Abstract

Abstrak Kertas konsep ini membincangkan isu tekanan kerja dan motivasi guru serta impaknya terhadap pengajaran dan pembelajaran dalam konteks pendidikan di Malaysia. Tekanan kerja dalam kalangan guru semakin membimbangkan berikutan peningkatan beban tugas, perubahan dasar pendidikan dan tuntutan pelbagai pihak berkepentingan. Tekanan yang berlebihan bukan sahaja menjejaskan kesejahteraan emosi dan mental guru malah turut mengurangkan motivasi mereka untuk melaksanakan tugas dengan berkesan. Motivasi guru yang tinggi amat penting bagi memastikan proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran berjalan dengan lancar, inovatif dan berkesan demi pencapaian pelajar yang optimum. Kajian literatur menunjukkan bahawa terdapat hubungan signifikan antara tahap tekanan kerja dengan motivasi guru, yang seterusnya memberi kesan langsung kepada kualiti pengajaran. Kertas konsep ini turut mengemukakan cadangan untuk menangani isu tekanan kerja serta meningkatkan motivasi guru, antaranya melalui memanfaatkan penggunaan sumber digital, latihan profesional berterusan dan penambahbaikan persekitaran kerja. Pemahaman yang mendalam mengenai hubungan antara tekanan kerja, motivasi guru dan impaknya terhadap pengajaran dan pembelajaran adalah penting bagi memastikan kesejahteraan guru serta keberkesanan sistem pendidikan negara secara menyeluruh.

Abstract: This concept paper focuses on the concern of work-related stress and teacher motivation and how it affects education in the place of teaching and learning in Malaysia. Stress levels among the teachers are increasingly worrying because of increasing workload, fluctuation in educational policies and pressure from different stakeholders. High stress levels do not only influence emotional and mental health of the teachers but also demotivate them in doing their work efficiently. Motivation among teachers is a very important measure that makes the teaching and learning process effective, innovative, and smooth in optimising student’s achievement. Literature reviews indicate that there is a significant correlation between the work-related stress and teacher motivation, which consequently impacts the quality of teaching. Additional suggestions to address work-related stress and improve teacher motivation, such as utilising digital resources, continuous professional development and enhancement of work environment, are presented in this concept paper. The correlation between work-related stress and motivation of the teachers and its impact on teaching and learning should be thoroughly understood to promote teacher well-being and overall efficiency of the national education system.
