Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the challenges in Quranic reading proficiency among rural primary school students. Considering factors such as the lack of parental support, the students' unconducive environment, and weaknesses in teaching methods and materials, the study aims to identify the implementation of Quranic teaching in rural schools and investigate the challenges that hinder students from completing their Quranic reading by Year 6. Through a literature review covering the importance of the Quran in the lives of Muslims, Quranic reading in contemporary education, Quranic teaching and learning methods in Malaysia, parental, school, and teacher awareness, student attitudes and behaviors, and the factors contributing to Quranic reading difficulties among students, this study provides a holistic understanding of these challenges. By understanding these issues, it is hoped that appropriate measures can be taken to improve the quality of Quranic teaching in rural primary schools, ensuring that every student can master Quranic reading proficiently and effectively.
