[THE IMPACT OF VIRTUAL LABORATORY ON THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVING AMONG PHYSICS' STUDENTS IN FIRST CLASS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL, YEMEN].
Keywords:
Virtual laboratory, academic achievementAbstract
Abstract: The aims of this study was to examine the effect of using virtual labs in teaching physics on academic achievement among students in the first secondary grade in Abyan governorate in the Republic of Yemen. It is also to examine the differences of statistical significance in the level of academic achievement based on the gender variable (male and female). In order to achieve the objectives of the study، the researcher used the experimental method based on Quantitative approach with semi-experimental design. Samples were chosen from a school, the sample consisted of 116 students who are divided into two groups; the first one was the experimental group which consisted of 59 (39 females, and 20 males) students, who are taught by using the technology of the virtual laboratories. The second group was the control group which consisted of 57 students (37 females, and 20 males), who are taught by using the traditional methods. The researcher used the achievement test, as a tools for the study. In order to analysis the finding of the study one way of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and independent T- test were used. The results of the present study revealed that there are statistically significant differences in favor of the virtual laboratory group in students' understanding and absorbing of the applied side of physics, compared to the control group with a traditional method of teaching. There were no statistically significant differences between the average scores of the achievement test for the control group. On the other hand, there were statistically significant differences between the average scores of the achievement test for the experimental group for gender in favor of females.
