Abstract

This study discusses the challenges empowerment of women’s politic representative in Malaysia for the year between 1980-2013. The aim of this study was to examine the challenges empowerment of women’s politic representation in political participation. Qualitative method is used in this research through observation and interviews with some informants were selected among former cabinet ministers or cabinet members, scholars who have made a study of gender and a member of parliament and DUN. In addition, the researchers also obtained secondary data related to this study. The data and tables obtained from sources believed to be, then analyzed qualitatively. The conceptual framework used in this study is the concept of leadership theories, empowerment and gender. The study found that the ability of women's leadership is not influenced by gender but only affected her leadership style. The empowerment of women’s representation in the Parliament and state assembly will not only change the current political situation but also be able to change the public’s view of women's abilities as a leader.
