Abstract

Abstract: The manuscript Tanbih al-Ghafilin bi Bayan Shay’in min Fada’il Al Bayt Sayyid al-Mursalin by the scholar Ahmad al-‘Aydarus represents a significant contribution to Islamic scholarship in the Malay Archipelago. This study examines the role of Ahl al-Bayt scholars in disseminating knowledge and preserving religious guidance through this manuscript, highlighting its impact on the intellectual and spiritual life of the region. The research addresses the challenges faced by the author, as the period in which the manuscript was composed witnessed divergent scholarly opinions regarding the status of the Prophet’s family, alongside the introduction of foreign ideas to the region. Al-‘Aydarus sought to clarify these matters, supporting his arguments with evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah. The study employs an analytical-descriptive methodology, focusing on the manuscript’s content, historical context, and cultural significance. The research demonstrates how the manuscript consolidates the virtues of Ahl al-Bayt through Qur’anic verses and prophetic traditions, illustrating their role in guiding the community and preserving the Sunnah. Moreover, it explores the manuscript’s literary style, characterized by eloquence, rhetorical sophistication, and clarity, which enhances its persuasive and educational impact. Finally, the study sheds light on the close relationship between Ahl al-Bayt scholars and the Malay community, revealing how their teachings influenced religious understanding, social cohesion, and intellectual development in the archipelago.
