Abstract

Abstract: This concept paper explores the evolution and journey of the Ulul Albab Education program and curriculum in Malaysia over the past 25 years. It highlights the development of IMTIAZ schools, MRSM Ulul Albab, as well as Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) and Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi (SBPI) - Tahfiz Model Ulul Albab (TMUA), which are operated by both central and state government agencies as well as private entities. Initially, the Ulul Albab Education Program was designed to integrate religious education, specifically Quran memorization, with academic studies solely in the Pure Science stream. However, it has proven successful in achieving its fundamental objectives, leading to significant educational advancements. A new conceptual framework, the Andalusian Vision Triangular Model 2.0, has been introduced to encompass this growth process, emphasizing the development of prospective Islamic scholars from childhood through to higher education. This model targets three main layers: the Thalatha Tis’a group (ages 3-9), which begins the Quran program (listening, reading, and memorizing) and language skills as early as age 3; the second layer, which consists of Ulul Albab students at the secondary school level; and the final layer, known as Andalusian Scholars at the higher education level. This expanded framework draws inspiration from the illustrious Andalusian civilization (711-1492 CE), renowned for its achievements in knowledge, science, technology, culture, economy, and administration. This civilization produced polymaths and polyglots during its era. Through detailed and focused implementation for each group layer, this paper argues for its potential as a comprehensive guide and vision for creating the Andalusian Vision Model 2.0, which aims to benefit and achieve success for the Islamic ummah and the global community.
