Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to examine the level of acceptance of generative AI technology based on predictive factors in the UTAUT 2 model and its influence on the behavioural intention to use the technology among pre-service teachers. This quantitative study was conducted through a survey method involving 46 respondents from the Malay Studies program at the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) Kampus Raja Melewar. The questionnaire instrument employed a 5-point Likert scale, and the data were analysed using Multiple Regression Analysis to address the research questions and hypotheses. The findings revealed that pre-service teachers at IPG demonstrated a high level of acceptance towards generative AI technology. Based on the hypotheses, the predictive factors of Performance Expectancy and Habit were rejected, while the other five predictive factors were accepted as they did not show a significant influence on the behavioural intention to use generative AI technology. The implications of this study highlight the need for future research on enhancing pre-service teacher competencies and teacher education programs in relation to the use of generative AI technology for the development of teaching aids in the teaching and learning process.
