KESAN LATIHAN PLIOMETRIK TERHADAP PRESTASI MURID BERKEPERLUAN PENDIDIKAN KHAS (MBPK) DALAM ACARA LOMPAT JAUH [THE EFFECTS OF PLYOMETRIC TRAINING ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS (SEN) STUDENTS IN THE LONG JUMP EVENT]

Abstract

Abstrak: Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menilai kesan latihan pliometrik terhadap peningkatan prestasi lompat jauh dalam kalangan Murid Berkeperluan Pendidikan Khas (MBPK) di Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas Vokasional Shah Alam (SMPKVSA), Selangor. Seramai 10 orang murid terlibat, terdiri daripada 5 lelaki dan 5 perempuan daripada kategori masalah pembelajaran dan masalah pendengaran. Reka bentuk kajian kuasi-eksperimen satu kumpulan pra dan pasca ujian digunakan bagi menilai keberkesanan intervensi latihan pliometrik selama lapan minggu. Data dianalisis menggunakan ujian-t berpasangan menerusi perisian SPSS versi 29 untuk mengenal pasti perbezaan signifikan antara skor pra dan pasca intervensi. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam prestasi lompat jauh dengan nilai min pra intervensi 1.279meter meningkat kepada 1.501meter selepas intervensi. Ujian-t berpasangan menunjukkan nilai p < .001, membuktikan kesan latihan yang ketara terhadap peningkatan prestasi. Kolerasi antara skor pra dan pasca juga tinggi (r = .964), menunjukkan keselarasan prestasi dalam kalangan peserta. Kajian ini menyokong keberkesanan latihan pliometrik sebagai pendekatan intervensi fizikal yang sistematik dan sesuai untuk MBPK, di samping memberi sumbangan kepada literatur tempatan dalam bidang Pendidikan Jasmani Pendidikan Khas. Dapatan ini mencadangkan agar latihan pliometrik diintegrasikan dalam program Pendidikan Jasmani Pendidikan Khas bagi memperkukuhkan pembangunan fizikal dan keyakinan diri murid MBPK secara menyeluruh.

Abstract: This study aims to evaluate the effects of plyometric training on improving long jump performance among Special Educational Needs (SEN) students at Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas Vokasional Shah Alam (SMPKVSA), Selangor. A total of 10 students participated, consisting of 5 males and 5 females from the learning disabilities and hearing impairment categories. A one-group pre-test and post-test quasi-experimental design was employed to assess the effectiveness of an eight-week plyometric training intervention. Data were analysed using paired t-tests in SPSS version 29 to determine significant differences between pre- and post-intervention scores.  The findings show a significant improvement in long jump performance, with the pre-intervention mean of 1.279 metres increasing to 1.501 metres after the intervention. The paired t-test yielded a p-value of < .001, indicating a substantial training effect. The correlation between pre- and post-test scores was also high (r = .964), demonstrating consistent performance trends among participants. This study supports the effectiveness of plyometric training as a systematic and suitable physical intervention for SEN students, while contributing to local literature in the field of Special Physical Education.  These findings suggest that plyometric training should be integrated into Special Physical Education programmes to strengthen the physical development and self-confidence of SEN students holistically.
